Drama For Fun

A welcoming group for adults, providing improvised drama activities, led by a qualified and experienced drama teacher.

It runs every Monday afternoon (except Bank holidays) 2-4 pm at The Brookdale Theatre (near Bramhall Park), Bridge Lane, Bramhall, SK7 3AB. This is a free event, tea, coffee, and biscuits provided.

We welcome new members. There’s no learning of lines or pressure to perform. It’s a fun way to make friends, do something completely different, and have a good laugh.

The 378 Bus from Stockport Town Centre drops off at 13.58pm at Fir Road, on the roundabout. The venue is accessible and there is plenty of parking.

Fundraising

In 2021 Bracondale Practice Health Champions received £1,985.00 raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery to run our ‘Drama for Fun’ activity for twelve months.

The funding comes from Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, a grant-giving charity funded by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. With this funding we have been able to run the group weekly in a new, convenient, and accessible venue.

Why do you come to Drama For Fun??

Socialising, learning, fun, something to do, gives structure to the week, making friends, moving about, getting exercise rather than being sedentary.

Have always enjoyed drama and this is a good opportunity to do something I enjoy. Meeting nice people in a non-threatening situation. It makes an enjoyable social event.

We come for company, socialising and away from the normal routine.

What we do?

We are a social prescribing project set up in 2018 with the support of our local GP surgery and now run independently by local volunteers. We aim to create supportive networks for anyone living in Stockport, particularly around the Bracondale GP Practice in Davenport. Activities are open to all and free of charge. New members are welcome at our weekly drama and walking groups. Through providing connections and friendship our project builds community support, leading to less reliance on GP services.
